4 Book Events in Austin to Check Out This April

Looking for your next event to learn new book recommendations and meet other readers? We've got you covered.

Calling all readers! If your only form of connecting with others about books recently has been in the form of sending memes to friends on Instagram, it’s time to check out some local book events.

Here are four options to meet new readers in-person, get new books, and get out of your house.

If you’re looking for a cool space to read at, try the Silent Book Club at Lazurus Brewing. The evening starts off with drinks at 6:30 p.m. and from seven to eight readers are encouraged to enjoy their book silently. There’s no required books or discussion, just bring whatever you’re reading and enjoy!

For those who love chatting about books, this event needs to be on your list. They’ll be discussing all genres in hopes of adding some new titles to your TBR and growing your collection. Check it out at the Ani’s Day & Night patio on Wednesday, April 13 at 6 p.m. to meet with other readers and get some new book recs.

Fans of Queer Eye and Jonathan Van Ness will want to mark their calendars for the evening of April 17th! Book People is hosting this event offsite at the Austin Central Library. You can get a copy of Love That Story: Observations from a Gorgeously Queer Life and signed right after the speaking portion. For more information RSVP details visit the BookPeople link for more details.
